    Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG

Alright well that didn't work out.  I built the whole character and while an uptight but not bad fellow, we came to the understanding that he might not be fun for me to run over the long run.

If we still need a mechanic I found a more laid back one...perhaps a bit too laid back, but being him will be easier than runnin' the total straight.

Angry War Vet Woman still in the back if someone else is dying to be the mechanic.

    I see a Captain
    I see a Pilot
I see a Doctor (unlicensed butcher with a sword )

and the rest here on Serenity Island.
And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

    Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG

I think Nova indicated a willingness to play a rugged captain
I thought I saw you step up to the pilot chair
    Speshul showed us a medic
leaving phelan and I to fight over security and mechanic...maybe a mouthpiece and my mechanics starting to grow on me

I think we have enough but could board more if more came along.

are you still happy with your pilot concept?

    Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG

Robin's dad ran a used space ship business, Dad sold while his partner worked on the ships, they both taught him everything they knew.  Once Dad's partner passed he retired from the biz, and Robin just sort of drifted, had a half hearted musical career which could have gone farther had he been more willing to make concessions he just couldn't bring himself to make, spent a few months as a buhdist monk (but that whole abstinence thing...well you know), and even dabbled in massage therapy, he had an offer from the companions guild, but the whole idea of charging for something as beautiful as love just seemed wrong, so he floated usualy making more money as a mechanic than anything else, his hobbies include his music, massage, and martial arts which he find helps keep his body and mind stay fit.  Things come natural and easy for Robin, his pretty almost girlish looks have gotten him in trouble at times but he's learned to take care of himself when no words will do, sad as that is.  Its cool, and I'm easy are word that quickly come to his toungue, he generally likes people, but can get a little infuriating to be around.

HUH, I'm captain now? Really didn't mean for that to happen, but sure, I can do that.

it looks like things are going that way. we've still got to figure out if we're starting off with a boat or if the GM wants us to earn one. Not to mention what the rest of the crew things. I'm happy being the pilot at this rate.

    Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG

Robin's certainly growing on me more, I see him as having, surfed, skied, snowboarded, handglided, cliff dived, bungy jumped, atmo dropped, spent weeks on a beautiful rich womans estate, loved hundreds of other women (all of whose names he can surprisingly remember...well because he did "love" them all), held all kinds of odd jobs, gone to all kinds of crazy parties, tried all kinds of chemicals, been in big bands small bands, played everywhere from a colesium to a club.  He's young (I'm thinking mid-20's) but has got around, whether chasing tail or a new opportunity, but he is still searching for a direction.  He's happy, and its all cool, but he feels like there should still be more and he can't figure out what that is.  He's waiting for that big moment in life where he'll gain clarity, not that he hasn't had a lot of "moments" in his life just not that apifany he's waiting for, until then he's just hangin' out and stayin' cool.  Life is good, its true he had to learn the hard way their are more dicks in the world than would be nice, and people who just want to be stressed out and angry, but while he's adapted he tries not to let it get him down or let it effect his own good natured personality.  He wants to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and doesn't want to make a big deal about small things, even if it leaves him a little on the short side of a exchange, he'd rather live and let live and hope that he can find out where he should be in this great big verse.

Medium height / slender/ well scupted but not overly large musculature with very little body hair
Long full thick straight hair falling to his mid back in dark brown almost black tresses that denote some asian decent in his blood line.
Bright deep blue eyes set above a romanesk nose on high cheekbones tappering to a square but narrow jaw line, pearly whites all in a row sparkle whenever he smiles...which is often if not always.

He's the guy that looks as good rolling rumpled out of bed as he does stepping out of the shower, roll him in mud and will just serve to accent his positives, but while this might provoke envy or jelousy when worn by another his comfortable manner makes him as easy to get along with drinking at a dive with a bunch of cow hands as dancing at the event of the year on the newest luxery liner, most folks from pig farmers and mudders to debutants and corporate execs find they are quickly comfortable with the young man and as much as they want to hate him (because he's beautiful) they just can't cause well "he's just such a nice guy".

The women though yeah that's caused a few problems a pretty face and pretty words couldn't work him out of.  His biggest regret is the number of women he's left behind with broken hearts, he wishes he could be with and love them all the way they deserve, but he's always honest with them and he knows he can't, he's sure one day he'll find one and settle, but he'll still be sad that he can't find a way to be everything all of them need at once.

One other little liberty I'm trying to take as a player (and shoot me down if you will, I'm still prepared to make changes as the group of gm requires) on Unarmed Combat I specialized in Dim Mok which is literally death touch, but realistically the study of vital areas and pressure points in the human body, and I'm hoping I'll be allowed to use this skill to equate to his skill in massage (I looked at medical but massage wasn't covered).  I don't expect it will come up much but that was how I was trying to represent it...

    alright back to work

Stoic vs very outgoing.  On the outside yes, but I notice two straight shooters and your soft underbelly probably makes us more the same inside than most folks will be able to see from the outside.

Sorry, barely have time to post till Sunday, I've got a basic outline in one of the very early posts, and I don't have any of the books, so someone else will have to stat me up. I'll think about what exactly happend when I have time, the fact I"m Captain changes things a little.
