Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG
If you can't tell, I do more gming than playing these days so I go a little crazy when I get a chance to make a character. I think the Captains got this covered but if the Captain wants to go harder edge, here's a possible closer, or The Closer:
Yu By
=====
VeteranPersonality : Composed
Agility : D8
Strength : D4
Vitality : D6
Alertness : D10
Intelligence : D10
Willpower : D12
Initiative : D8+D10
Life Points : 18
Assets
-----
Steady Calm (Major)
Friends in High Places (Minor)
Friends in Low Places (Minor)
Trustworthy Gut (Minor)
Complications
-------------
Credo (Major)
Scrawny (Minor)
Superstitious (Minor)
Deadly Enemy (Minor)
Branded (Minor)
Skills
------
Animal Handling D0
Artistry D0
Athletics D6
Covert D6
Craft D0
Discipline D6
Guns D2
Heavy Weapons D0
Influence D6
+--Streetwise D10
+--Barter D10
+--Bureaucracy D10
Knowledge D6
Linguist D6
Mechanical Engineering D0
Medical Expertise D0
Melee Weapon Combat D6
Perception D6
Performance D0
Pilot D0
Planetary Vehicle D0
Ranged Weapons D0
Scientific Expertise D2
Survival D0
Technical Engineering D0
Unarmed Combat D4
So another option to free up the choices of others.
And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

Re: Reply: Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG
I had a nice little family emergency pop up, so that's why I've been gone for so long after my initial post. As it stands, I might not have time to play, but if I can manage, I guess I could fill one of the empty slots you may need. If that is the case, I need to know exactly at this point which positions are open, so I can flesh myself out a character. Remember, I aim to misbehave, so if you don't have the mercenary type yet, I could fit the bill, I'm sure.

Re: Reply: Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG
It looks like Pilot, Doc, Mechanic, and Captain look to be filled.
Kariggi looks to have options up for Securite, a Socialite sorta like Anara minus the Registered Companion, and a gun gymnast like River minus the leaky brainpan.
We may could use a First Mate still, or ya could talk to Kariggi 'bout that Security position.
New to the forums, just returned to the comic.

Re: Reply: Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG
I'd say we got room for someone in public relations seein' as your aimin to misbehave...
Simon Tam about Jayne: What do you pay him for?
Mal: What?
Simon: I was just wondering what his job was. On the ship.
Mal: Public relations.
Sort of like that?
Ya'all grab a birth that ya need ta be shiny an all, I'll sling my hammok twixed whatever two trees are left.
I'm just excited at the prospect of playing and could make a dozen more characters to fill a niche.
I just ran my first full session last night and I'm lovin' it even more.

Re: Reply: Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG
McCord started out as a small trader. His home planet, Redwood, wasn’t on the rim, but it sure wasn’t a core world. He ran a small shop selling tools and did it well. He gradually bought up some other shops in nearby towns, focusing on getting basic, good tools. He discovered he could sell basic goods such as shovels for a fortune to the outer worlds. He started buying them cheaply from his suppliers then selling them at a fair mark-up on the outer worlds. He met a lot of ship captains and a lot of grateful farmers and miners. He insisted on running his own ship a lot of the time, refusing to run any business he didn’t understand. He always made sure to do his fair share of the work, even learning gunplay to help defend his goods. Then came the war, and he stayed carefully neutral, refusing to carry goods for either side. He survived the war, carrying food and basic goods to devastated worlds, sometimes at a loss. However, in the aftermath an alliance bureaucrat ruled that his shovels had built alliance trenches and ignored all evidence that he’d sold them to reputable local stores. His business was stripped from him and given to a massive corporation that has proceeded to charge massive prices for everything as they are now the only supplier. He asked around and found that right after they finished stealing his company that bureaucrat retired and took a job on the corporation’s board of directors. He called in some favours, scrapped up his personal savings and bought an old firefly and a load of basic goods. He found some friends and put together a crew. Now starting over on the outer worlds, he’s pretty sure the alliance was right, and is just a little bitter about doing so.
Captain McCord

I think you're 2 points shy with your attributes, what will all the complications you have.

Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG
Yup you nailed credo live by a code you set major though should be a code that can make you dead ie never leave a man behind...
We can switch memorable for another minor- stingy, tetchy, chip on his shoulder, dangerous enemy...
Predjudice only goes to minor in my book you could switch it straight for memorable, you do have room for one more complication though.
Skill points are maxed so you'll have to pull from another skill to get land vehicles up, figure out what you can knock down or live without I tried to give you a broad field of a little knowledge so you ":can" do everything even if not well.
Most of its malleable on a 2 for 2 basis.
Straight Shooter could work as a minor too.
Only major complications left on the field are things like Ugly as sin, Allergy, Flashbacks, Blind, Deaf, Paralysed...

I just rechecked. Nova's good, 12 points complications 6 points assest 48 points as a vet is 8's across the board so 3-8's and 3-10's burns through those 6 points..though if you can afford it I was rereading nose for trouble at major might not be bad..spend a plot point to negate the effects of suprise. Leader ship is pretty sweet too.

Looks like we've got ourselves a mighty fine crew so far.

Re: Reply: Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG
Does it help at all that I name my guns and various implements of pain and injury causin'? I think it's in bad taste that Jayne only named one of this weapons...they should all be treated lovingly and with dignity and respect!
...err...sorry, got a few screws loose in the ol' belfry. I suppose I should take my medication again, so I don't repeat the incident with my last crew...

I'd have to say only a lunatic names one of his weapons...and not the rest.

Kariggi:Yup you nailed credo live by a code you set major though should be a code that can make you dead ie never leave a man behind... Always deal straight & Do the right thing?
We can switch memorable for another minor- stingy, tetchy, chip on his shoulder, dangerous enemy... Give me a description of Chip on the Shoulder?
Predjudice only goes to minor in my book you could switch it straight for memorable, you do have room for one more complication though. I'll take both, I like the idea of being meorable. I maintian its the white streaks in my hair already, but really is the sharp blue eyes.
What does that do/what do I have to give up to get it?
Only major complications left on the field are things like Ugly as sin, Allergy, Flashbacks, Blind, Deaf, Paralysed...

Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG
Chip on shoulder makes you more prone to get in a fight
straight shooter mean you ALWAYS tell the truth (minor complication)
you can only have 5 complications, but right now you have room for 1 more or you could switch one to fit predjudice.

Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG
Also just read it does -2 step penalty to social interactions where there is tension, likely all of our future ones.
