    Re: Big Damn Serenity Game

OOCBefore i make landfall i was wondering what the current amount of fuel was on ship. What kind of town/city are we heading to and if it has a port with docking and refueling capabilities. Since Nova hasn't spoke up about the boat i'm assuming we are going with Sway's build of the last chance.

    Re: Big Damn Serenity Game

Athens was shot up pretty badly in the war, and the ruined cities have now been opened up for salvage operations. Technically you have to get a salvage license, but you've heard tell that there are a lot of people looking around and it could be possible to fly low and work unlicensed. There's a spaceport and refueling center at the biggest city. It also has four moons that weren't as badly hit, which would each have fuel available. The Last Chance has half its fuel left.

    Re: Big Damn Serenity Game

OOCSorry about the long delay guys, was flying to BC followed by getting settled. Also my paramour has been somewhat distracting.
Also: You can't distill pure ethanol. The boiling point of the mixture gets lower then that of either substance as a certain point (About 96% I believe) 100% ethanol is created chemically and can't be drunk as the current process involves benzene. Also ethanol can't drive you blind. You only go blind if you make it wrong and get some methanol in the mix.

Griff: "Ahh, Work? Lined up? Not as such no. But you know, with a crew as pure and righteous as this I'm sure we'll be handed a job right away" He then glances back at the crew "Or it could take a couple of days"

Tobias: "Well that depends entirely on what job we get and how soon we get it. We refull and reload first, then job hunt. If we get a job that the cargo will take a week to arive you all get some R&R. We don't get a job well, you get a bit more R&R till we do."

Aemon: "You know the rules Aemon! You brew it with my ship I get a bottle or six dropped off in my quarters. Stuff is useful in finding us work"

    Re: Big Damn Serenity Game

"I'm sure we'll be able to find something to line our pockets. Chance won't need too much fuel and we've lived off protein paste before. Looks like we're almost there."

Griff looked up at the growing planet of Athens. He strapped himself  and quickly glanced over to his wheelchair to see if it was locked in. He took hold of the controls and flipped the proper sequence for atmo re-entry. With a stern and calm voice he spoke aloud to the crew.

"We'll be entering Athens atmo in a few minutes. The winds are rough and this boat is just always unpredictable, so everyone strap in or be ready to brace yourself. Once we hit the air it'll be only a short trip to the link up point then this job is over."

Muscle memory took over as Griff eased Last Chance into the proper angle of entry. Heat began to build up and dissapate around the windows upon re-entry. Ignoring the enigmatic beauty of the flames as they danced over the ship Griff gave all his attention to any change of the boats diagnostics. He prayed that Aemon would be right about the ship being fine. Many times over he knew that even a good boat had more than a few tricks up her sleeve to throw around at the worst possible times.

Yeah, I know about the Azeotrope at 95.6, which is why you don't see stuff over 191 proof.  Everclear's the highest proofage you can get legal on the market, although using a membrane you might be able to push it closer to multiple nines.  Still, the line was more for....  Exaggeration, hyperbole from what most high proof alchols taste like.

I figure stuff in the future might be a little more complex.  Still, I don't anticipate the still bein' more than 130 proof.  What with the size of the engine and all, the still probably doesn't have more than a two gallon tank or so.  If that.  For those interested, I imagine that his latest distillate would taste sort of like Blackhaus, with a rougher edge.

Also, I know bullets can't really curve a'la Wanted.  Well, besides a ballistic trajectory as is influenced by gravity.

"Shi, Cap.  Longer we stay, easier my job'd be."
Passing his cup to Wendi, he nods to Tobias.
"Might could make some vodka.  I'll pull a script off the cortext when I can get a chance.  Wendi, don't drink too much.  Wouldn't want your shooting to be curved when we're in the heat and needing it."
Looking back over his shoulder toward the cabins, he grins slightly.
"Think I'd get a rise out of Sebastion if I make for the engine room like we're 'bout to fall from the sky once Lord Fauntleroy finishes changing?  Asuming he comes out of his cabin before we have grounded."

OOCLOL why doesn't every one pick on him! he's nice,.....

Sebastion, is nearly finished dressing, he straps his rapier on and does a few twirls before checking his hidden money belt and gives his cortex guide on athens a final look (written by another clueless snob, so highly opinionated and wrong). Sebastion is on a look out for war memorabile anything sword / bow related and will happily purchase any decent replicas / antiques. A good old american civil war style sabre would go down a treat, even if it is a modern replica. As well as experiencing the life on the rim, he is trophy hunting.

    Sebastion
starts to slowly climb the ladder, whistling a cheerful tune to him self. Probaly a cheery theme show tune.

"Is it going to be hot on Athens?"  Wendi says as she gingerly takes the cup from Aemon.  Pressing it to her thickly layered lips she doesn't notice the burning at first which as she slowly under Aemon's advisement drinks from the cup scorches her throat.  Pulling the cup away quickly and pressing it back towards Aemon, she looks up at him all round watering eyes and says half sucking air "That's not berry juice."  She feels the fire hit her belly and start to spread through her.  While she was aware of what alcohol was this is the first time in her memory that she has actualy drank it.  It kinda makes her feel warmer and a little fuzzy like being too deep inside a fur coat.
And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

    Re: Big Damn Serenity Game

Griff did his best to hold back  a chuckle as Wendi quickly swallowed Shae's brew. Turning his attention back towards the console where all systems were green. The exterior hull showed no residual heat from re-entry and Athen's winds seemed docile for the moment. The clear blue sky with wisps of clouds was comforting a nice change from the black. The comforting feeling soon faded as Griff looked at the approaching city, if you could call a bombed out metropolis with a backdrop of barren wasteland a city. What was once a bustling capital has been reduced to almost nothing after the constant bombing and groundfighting of the unification war. The planets as well as the people wore the scars of the war. With a flick of a near by switch Griff made contact with the main port authority.

"Port Zeus, this is Last Chance, ship registration 860917 Golf Echo Mike. Requesting docking assignment. Please give further instruction."

    Re: Big Damn Serenity Game

Tobias nods at the Captain’s comments and when Griffin starts pulling in for a landing, he saunters his way towards to the ship’s kitchen area to put away his plate and fork until cleaning time. After depositing the dishes, he makes his way back to his shuttle. Coming across the catwalk overlooking the docking bay, he does a quick eye-scan of the goods to be sure nothing got too rustled during transport. Trouble with spice runs was always the worry that the seller might stick you with some substandard packaging and you’d end up with a hull full of cinnamon powder. Might smell nice, but if it got in the air purifiers, the filters would be shot quick, fast, and in a hurry. That’s why on the core planets customs checks included package thickness testing, but not so out here along the rim.

Once in his shuttle, Tobias dawns his gun belt and hat before downing a swig of the “special” mouthwash Aemon had conjured up for him and quickly checking his teeth in the mirror. After all, nothing soured a deal faster than bad breath or having bits in your teeth, well, excepting for gunfire and reavers of course. Satisfied that his breakfast wasn’t going to cost the crew a job, Tobias again makes his way back to the front hall near the cockpit.

OOCI'm just packing for a last minute weekend camping trip because the weather isn't too bad so I won't be back till sunday evening.

Scratch that, day tripping instead. so I will be around most of this weekend, campsites full and i'm too tired

Sebastion finally satisfied with his appearance and hearing the reentry calm down, flexes his rapier before attaching it to his fine leather belt. and start to head towards the lounge to look out of the window to get his first view of the famous athens.

    Re: Big Damn Serenity Game

"Roger that, Last Chance preparing for landfall." Griff cruised over the bombed out city. Scattered hulks of metal, ceramic and glass filled the refurbished port. Transports and people scurried across the ground around them as he lowered Last Chance in front of a young lad guiding him into a platform with flashing cross hairs. With a loud thump and jostle he felt the solid ground underneath him once again.

"Welcome to Port Zeus people. Everyone to the cargo bay for the captain's brief." Griff clicked off the ship's intercom and began shutting down Chance. Quickly sliding into his wheel chair he looked out to the city and saw the young boy again, this time waving hello before running to another incoming ship.

"Planet seems nice enough so far. I hope it stays that way." Griff muttered to himself before making his way to the docking bay.

Sebastion makes his way down to the cargo bay, at a pace slighty too fast to maintain gentlemenly compsure showing his excitement.
