    Recruiting for Serenity RPG

    Looks like things are shaping up nicely. I'll start a thread for the actual game in the next day or two, and we can kick it off with a few days of roleplaying, since I haven't decided for sure which adventure to do first.

    2 more points in attributes or another minor asset or an increase in one of your assets from minor to major.

    Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG

    I know it seems a little late to join the crew but I'm willing to play just about any character, although my personal favorite would be Security or First Mate.

    Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG

    I think we've still got some space for a first mate. Phelan seems to be filling out the role of security. Momerath i'm curious though. what are we going to use for a boat or are you planning on having us find one during an adventure. My back story involves me using my old alliance patrol cruiser though it's taken one hell of a beating and is considered destroyed by the alliance. Or would you rather go with Nova's fire fly class ship he bought? Or would you rather us role play this out?

    Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG

    Well we haven't gotten started yet so I don't think its that late.

    A solid First Mate wouldn't hurt the group, phelan appears to be working the security angle (though we haven't seen his character yet), and we've got a Captain, Pilot, Mechanic, and Medic, and hey they frees me up to be whatever the heck I want yeah!

    Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG

    So I did this for me but it might be easier to have it here (chock it up to a leaky brain pan)

    My Serenity Cheat Sheet:
    The begining...so far:
    Nova = Captain McCord (cs below)

    Phelan = Aimin to misbehave
    FinAeros = Aemon Shaebanning, Veteran Mechanic (cs below)
    doran = Daedalus "Griff " Griffith, Pilot (cs below)
    speshul = Sebastion Wriggleworth-Smythe - Medic (write-up below)
    Shulitze = First Mate?
    Kariggi = Wendi pretty shiny little psycopath (cs below)

    McCord started out as a small trader. His home planet, Redwood, wasn’t on the rim, but it sure wasn’t a core world. He ran a small shop selling tools and did it well.
    He gradually bought up some other shops in nearby towns, focusing on getting basic, good tools. He discovered he could sell basic goods such as shovels for a fortune
    to the outer worlds. He started buying them cheaply from his suppliers then selling them at a fair mark-up on the outer worlds. He met a lot of ship captains and a
    lot of grateful farmers and miners. He insisted on running his own ship a lot of the time, refusing to run any business he didn’t understand. He always made sure to do
    his fair share of the work, even learning gunplay to help defend his goods. Then came the war, and he stayed carefully neutral, refusing to carry goods for either side.
    He survived the war, carrying food and basic goods to devastated worlds, sometimes at a loss. However, in the aftermath an alliance bureaucrat ruled that his shovels
    had built alliance trenches and ignored all evidence that he’d sold them to reputable local stores. His business was stripped from him and given to a massive corporation
    that has proceeded to charge massive prices for everything as they are now the only supplier. He asked around and found that right after they finished stealing his
    company that bureaucrat retired and took a job on the corporation’s board of directors. He called in some favours, scrapped up his personal savings and bought an old
    firefly and a load of basic goods. He found some friends and put together a crew. Now starting over on the outer worlds, he’s pretty sure the alliance was right, and is
    just a little bitter about doing so.
    Captain McCord (2pts remain)

    my current idea for a pilot is a alliance pilot who was shot down over Hera during a bombing run. He never fully agreed with the war, but he was a soldier at heart.
    He prevented his ship from crashing into a near by ranch and was seriously injured. With the loss of the use of his legs he was captured by brown coat sympathizers.
    He was healed and sentenced to execution after interrogation, but the owner of the ranch had a lot of pull with the brown coats and was able to protect him.
    He saw the horrors of what the war was doing to the innocent and couldn't stomach the alliance anymore. The sympathizers were able to get his patrol vessel up and
    running and after proving his worth on so called suicide missions he gained the trust of many brown coats. During the battle of Serenity Valley he defied orders and
    flew in to rescue brown coats on the retreat and pull out the injured. He is classified as MIA in the Alliance, but still has many friends inside the military.

    Male mid twenties imaculately dressed in the latest high society fashion, works with the air of confidence only possible to 'those' from Bellerophon.
    A handsome fellow with strong features and a physicue enhanced by exceptional tailoring.  " Since I dropped out of Bellerophon Prime Medical university daddy
    has removed access to one of my trust funds, plus home has become a fright full bore, so i've decided to see how common people live, I've not a qualified doctor
    but two years at Bellerophon Prime is probably worth four years at any other university (whiny snorty laugh) which is my room?
    If you want stats i have them. ( I kind of like this guy even though he slightly one dimensional. ) ( medical can be swapped with law if it suit the crew better)
    I have ideas of  darker filcher character, but its not fully form, he would have more of an interesting back story.

    The occassionally not so shiny truth about me (Wendi). I was born into the circus my Father was the finest sharpshooter in the whole verse and my Mama was the greatest acrobat ever to grace the sky. I was their little doll and the doll of the whole circus, the clowns would dress me up and I got to learn from everybody the ways of the circus, and my father taught me how to shoot like him, and my mother taught me to fly like her, and the others showed me so much more, I even learned to pull a rabbit out of a hat, but then the bad people came and they killed everyone but me. I tried to fight them off I punched them and I kicked them and I bit them and tried to claw their eyes out but they just threw me off and kept on killing everyone. I found my daddy’s gun and I shot them, I killed a bunch of them so I know they can die, but they still didn’t kill me back, and then they left. The government tried to help me out, but a lot of times bad things just happened, and a lot of people died, so I had to go someplace else, but a lot of bad things happened so I had to move a lot. It was kinda funny no matter what happened no matter how bad it was no matter how many other people died, it didn’t ever kill me. I guess I’m lucky like that.

    You know so many people have died around me they call me the angel of death, they even did a special on me on the news show. They said some not so nice things about me, but they were pretty people telling the stories. They should have said how lucky I was, that’s what the doctors said, that I was lucky, they even said the make-up might have had something to do with it, that’s why I wear it. I know some people look at me funny, but it makes me feel safe and protected, the doctors said it was harmless on my release papers.

    They released me when I turned 18 and was deemed ready to rejoin society. I think they were running out of places to send me (winks). And since then I’ve rejoined society, despite what news specials might say.   Oh and I’ve occasionally killed a few bad people cause ya know, those bad people all gotta die.

    Ok the truth though is kinda sad, there are a lot of really bad people in the verse, and I just don’t know what to do, or where to go. I’m sure it will be alright, I’m lucky, but so many bad things happen, it’s hard to figure out how to do what’s right. I miss the circus, but this place is nice.

    So can I increase one of my skills with that? Or what? I don't want anymore advantages or such.

    You can up your attributes with them but not your skills, you could always pull two points off pistol slide it over to land vehicles and put the two points in agility.

    Re: Recruiting for Serenity RPG

    Outstanding questions.
    Massage - I think with my approval we can add more specialties under the general skills. If I recall the ones in the book were almost examples, not everything that could be done. Let's move massage out of the martial arts category so my brain don't hurt.

    Spaceship - I favor a firefly class since we have the most detailed information about it (and know what it looks like from the TV show). I don't care whether McCord bought it himself, or everyone chipped in.

    One ship is probably enough but if the Alliance transport is really beat up (and I can have it fall apart whenever drama calls for it), it could be parked somewhere as well.

    Are there any other questions I missed?

    With seven players, this crew seems full to me. If people drop out later, we can always take on passengers if we recruit new players.

    Drydock costs. I vote its floating dark in spaces somewhere off the beaten path. Seems more like what our hero's would do
