Re: Big Damn Serenity Game
Aemon remains looking out the cockpit, his eyes scanning the view carefully. After a moment he turns and trails the others, pulling up a list of needed maintenance which partially distracts him as he follows.

Re: Big Damn Serenity Game
While Wendi generally seemed a boiling pot of energy barely constrained by a lid being bounced upon it top, seething like the roiling waters below, threatening to escape at a moments notice, it appeared landing had turned that flame up, the pot lid had been cast aside, the waters and steam now quite unconstrained now running free, in this case through the ship with a level of pure joyous energy left behind by most once they leave those salad days of early youth and move on to become mature young men and women, unbridled joy curiosity and enthusiasm, with perhaps just a touch of mischief in her eyes. She sprints to the cargo bay the only place within Last Chance with even a hope of giving up the room her bounding spirit seems now to need. As she exits the hall she throws herself at the catwalk rail, her hands barely seem to even touch it as the rest of her body flies over the top of it and in instants she is tumbling and twisting through the air as if its very presence were capable of keeping her aloft, she seems to fly and float unconcerned by the approaching floor. When they meet the explosion of joy from her lips is both infectious and a little unsettling. Wendi is happy.
It's too bad the world will never let her stay just right there.
And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

Re: Big Damn Serenity Game
"Shea, Thought I'd talked to you about gettin' kids drunk on my ship right afore we make landfall? You not supposed to do that till we're in the black and sailin' free! We might need her in a fight!" The Captain drawls at Shea with a smile.
Walking into the cargo bay the Captain is just in time to catch Wendi's perfect landing to which he applauds loudly. "Tobias, your with me, time to scrounge up some work. Sebastion, if any of your highfalutin freinds need cargo moved I want you to find out. Shea you have my permission to do everything and anything you need to keep my baby in the air. Griff, help him out. Wendi....hmmm.... Ah, might need the muscle. Pick a few small guns and come with me and Tobias. Where gonna look up a couple people I know, see if they need anything moved or such. Any questions ask em now as I don't want you bothering me while I'm trying to close a deal"

Outside the ship, the city is busy, but not in the same way as a normal city bustles. Here, desperate and shady characters pick through the bombed-out ruins of the city. Everyone that's posted so far take a plot point for good roleplaying.

Sebastion says, "i've checked my contacts on the way here and didn't find any opportunities, i think there must be a tournament on, every one was far too busy to talk to me."
Sebastion nods at the crew and sets off down the ramp saying hello to anyone who stares at him (which is most of the people around the docks). He is looking for work / antique sword, or may just get lost and go sight seeing.

Re: Big Damn Serenity Game
Griff rolls into the cargo bay just in time to hear the captain's orders and begins to make plans for the next few hours.
"Alright Shae you heard the captain. Prep the cargo for pick-up then look to getting that primary fuel valve fixed. I like being able to hard burn at my pleasure. I'm gonna run a full diagnostic up on the bridge to make sure everything is green. After that i'm going to find out how much a load of fuel is and what the port fee's are gonna look like. Think you can handle the ship while i'm away?"
Knowing that money's tight Griff is hoping that the port master is going to have fair rates and won't try to swindle them. Athens had been hit hard, but there were bound to be sound honest folk still trying to keep things right.

Re: Big Damn Serenity Game
Tobias walks a few paces behind and off to the side of the Captain, casually glancing at the other people scurrying about the port, with more than a few of them probably doing double takes of Wendi as the trio passes. “I assume that since we’re checkin in with some of your associates that there wasn’t nothin posted on the Cortex this morning, Captain? Not there ever is much these days.” Pausing for a moment to let the Captain respond, Tobias adds, “By the by, despite ‘da well payin’ kind’ of course, is there any sort of job you’d be wanting to take preference to Captain?”

Re: Big Damn Serenity Game
As Wendi painted on her outside face she giggled thinking how the captain had referred to her as muscle, it made her think of Samson from the Circus and she imagined herself in his tight leotard with ginormous puffy muscles bulging to break it from within. Even with his ginormous muscles though he wasn't strong enough to stop the bad people from eating him, Wendi saw, she saw them eating his big muscles while he screamed and yelled and tried to fight and died, Wendi was glad when he died because she liked Samson and he had been in a lot of pain while the bad men held him and cut into his flesh and used their teethe to pull pieced of his big muscles right from his bones.
When it was time to leave she could barely contain herself, bouncing from foot to foot waiting for the door to open to the outside, but when it did she stopped. The world was big outside the ship, not everyone was good like on Last Chance, she didn't want to show it but she was a little scared, she was excited but scared and involuntarily finds herself half snuggled behind the captain eyes wide absorbing the big big world outside. She was glad she was going with Captain McCord he was a good person and it made her feel less scared.
And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

Re: Big Damn Serenity Game
Sebastion carries on strolling around, nodding and greeting people. He is keeping half an open and is wary, if only not to miss anything. (his first proper trip to the rim, pitty no though to warn him of the dangers, alliance/ core romance novels aren't the most accurate when it comes to the life away from the core).
He is looking out for shops, millitary (antiques or collectables) /sporting / (fashion but he has given up on that one already) and anything he things can help the ship. He is also looking out for damsels in distress.
He is also looking out for somewhere perhaps to have the shooting contest and perhaps get some locals involved as well.
He is not so oblivious as not to fit in and is watching people to see what is currently 'in fashion' he thinks its currently browns....

Re: Big Damn Serenity Game
"Aye, I should be able to handle her."
After slipping out of the top half of his jumpsuit and tying the arms around his waist, he sets to pulling the straps and netting that had secured their cargo. Ensuring they're untangled and properly stowed after he'd removed them adds slightly to the time required, but shows care for the equipment.
"Just don't be too long about it. After I'm done unassing this cargo I'll need to get elbows deep in the engine."
Once he has finished, he'll inspect the cargo and re-sort the crates into separate stacks of spices and holos.

Sebastion wanders around, and soon realizes that he is very unlikely to find an antique sword here. Most of the people here are lookin' to salvage whatever they can, then sell it somewheres else. Basic necessities are about all that's bein' sold here: food, clothing, a little ammo - and all expensive (1.5 times book price). Griff - the portmaster asks 1.5 times book price for docking and fuel, also. (See page 104 of the rulebook.) You all started with 6 plot points. No one can have more than 12.

"Given a choice I always prefer the, ah, legal kind of work." replies the Captain as he sets off to meet their contact and get the hold unloaded and the rest of their money. "Following that I'd like something local, prehappes that could help these people. After that...the type that involves us getting paid...following that...the type that doesn't get us shot at. Might want to look at building supplies importation, or raw material exportation. While I'd rather not deal with that as a very last resort I suspect there is a strong luxury goods export buissnes right now running off the *lower voice* looting of rich homes."

Surprisingly, McCord's meeting with his contact goes smoothly. Arrangements are made for the buyer to collect the goods at the ship, whereupon the balance of the payment, 250 credits, will be made. Walking through the streets back towards the ship, the group hears a call, "Hey, McCord! Is that you?" McCord recognizes the speaker as Todd Wilkinson, a man he's done business with in the past - Todd sells fuel and engine parts. Todd is a muscular man, perhaps 35 but still youthful in appearance. He's wearing a nicely tailored black suit. "I'm glad I ran into you here!" Todd continues. "I'm looking to hire a ship and crew to help me with a salvage operation. 5000 credits cash, fuel for your ship, and 10% of whatever we can salvage. Could add a lot to the pay. What do you say?"
