    Abe

Can't leave them as long as they are standing and fighting, have to do what I can do as I continue to use my broom to pull zombies off balance to make a path for the men.

) Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

    Other Dice: 3, 4, 1, reroll: 5, 1, reroll: 6, 2, 3 - {5 Odds}

OMG, I can't believe you pulled that off again!  But just barely, so this is a "Yes, but..." situation.

The three, hearing the cries of the other men, selflessly run back to help them.  Tripping, jabbing and wailing with all of their might, they beat back the zombies long enough for the men to make a run for it.  One man looks like he's free, but a zombie leaps out of nowhere and sinks his filthy teeth into the man's shoulder.  A crushing blow from Hal sends the zombie's head flying for the bleachers, however, and the injured man staggers for the safety of the garage.  Soon, everyone is gathered at the entrance, only to find that the door is locked!

The zombies regroup now, slowed by their beating, but moving inexorably closer...

    "B, b, b, break a window"

I plead as I dig in the box and dig out 2 t-shirts.  I hadn't considered this use for them but I quickly tie them around the end of my broom and using one of the bic lighters ignite the shirt to make a makeshift torch.

    Re: Inconvenient Death

OOCHmm... I wonder if we've lost some folks.

Thinking quickly, Abe puts together a makeshift torch and waves it at the zombies.  It isn't the greatest, and the zombies don't seem particularly afraid of fire, but it buys enough time for one of the men to elbow out a panel of glass and reach for the latch inside...  Unfortunately, there's no latch.  It must use a key on both sides.  Another man pushes across the others and grabs a large metal drum, half full of garbage.  Lifting it over his head (with the help of the others) he heaves it through the door, creating a jagged hole large enough for people to climb in.  Before long, everyone is inside except for Abe, and soon he too is safely inside, though scratched up by the portal's edges.

Unfortunately, the opening is large enough for the zombies as well, and they rush the hole.  For a moment, it looks as though the door has sprouted a dozen rotting, grasping arms.  Then one of them gets a head through...

    OOCNow what?

    Abe

Breathing heavily as much from fear as effort I jam the broom hard into the face of the zombie and drop it.  I run over to the hose hanger rack and look for a double hydrant spanner, brass nozzle, pro bar, sledge hammer or axe.  Anything more substantial than a broom.

OOCMy fault. I had to go out of town.

"I always loved Whack-a-mole. Thanks for RUINING IT!!" Hal screams as he sends the crushing down on the head.

    Re: Inconvenient Death

Running to the truck in the garage, Abe finds a double hydrant spanner and hefts it purposefully.  Meanwhile, Hal thrashes at the head poking through the door.  The two men put every effort into their assault, but for every crushed skull or snapped limb, another takes its place.  There are simply too many, and their number seems to be growing.

Meanwhile, across the street, unseen by Abe, Hal, Alex and company, the other survivors carfully wend their way precariously across the rooftops...

OOCJust to be clear, this is just a regular service garage, not a fire station, in case there was any confusion.

    Re: Inconvenient Death

OOCThanks, that makes a difference, they wouldn't have had the spanner then so I change it to a 3/4" breaker bar, just as long and as useful. They would have one in the equipment box on the truck but Abe wouldn't know that.
Can...gasp...can you run a, a, an acetylene torch...gasp.  If you can I'll... gasp... hold them off ti, ti, ti, till you get it lit.

OOCSorry, laptop was in the shop and thunderstorms kept me off my desktop

I run to the front of the truck and clamber in and try and get it started, praying its gassed up.

Think its time I should get out the bagpipes and play farewell to this awsome game?

    Re: Inconvenient Death

OOCSorry for the delay.  I had a little trouble deciding where to go with things...

Oh, and apparently it's a "rescue" engine.

As Abe pounds futiley on the zombies with his found weapon, Alex climbs into the large vehicle and tries to start her up.  The key turns, the engine roars, rattles, clanks... and dies.  The zombies at the door seem to redouble their efforts upon hearing the racket, pushing their way further and further through hole in the door.

Meanwhile, several blocks away, Mary and the others are surrounded by zombies who have made their way onto the rooftops.  The clerk, standing beside her, blows another one away with his shotgun and then takes aim at a fifth.  "Click", the weapon responds matter-of-factly.  The zombies charge and, unheard by Alex and the others, somebody screams.

    Re: Inconvenient Death

I'm going to see if I can get the engine to turn over, trying every trick I know to get it to start. If none of them work I leap out and head for the gas tank and make sure its got fuel.

    Re: Inconvenient Death

Alex struggles with the ignition even as Abe struggles with the zombies.  Finally, Alex checks the tank for gas and finds that the engine has about half a tank.  Abe, on the other hand, is beginning to run out of fuel, his arms growing weary.  Several zombies have actually breached the door and are only held in check at the doorway by Abe's ebbing fury.

I quikly look around for a bottel and some rags and attempt to quickly make a molotove to give Abe a break.
