Re: Interested in a little PBF game?

Hey, TOG!  Glad to have you here.  Nice character, though I think that the significant thing that happened to James might be better as "Lost his hand and now has to wear a prothetic" or something to that effect.

Story Engine is a genericized version of the ruleset for Maelstrom Storytelling.  It uses a pool of d6s and descriptive terms to resolve scenes of character conflict in a narrative fashion.  It was one of the earliest games to try this as its focus, and while other games have gone on to do it "better", I think the Story Engine will serve our purposes.  Other options might have been PTA (too much "TV" theme) or Shock: (too specifically "sci-fi") or something else that either requires too much retooling or too much feedback (which is slow on the forums).

The loss of his hand was a while ago. The point is that he just started to get his life together, and then BAM a zombie apocalypse comes along and ruins all that.

Ok, that'll do.  Now I've just got to come up with a good start.  I'll start a new thread for the game sometime soon.

Re: Interested in a little PBF game?

I have no idea what you are doing but willing to learn if you have room for 1 more character

    Name: Abe Lincoln
    Profession: Newly homeless
    1. Painfully honest
    2. Intelligent
    3. Humanitarian
    ----------------------
    1. Phd archaeologist
    2. Wilderness survivalist
    3. Grew up in carnival as part of knife throwing act
    -----------------------
    Stutters

Department closed at University and when he got home wife had cleaned out his accounts, packed up the household goods including all of his possessions and disappeared.

) Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Hey Old Grump!  Welcome to DnDorks!

I'm happy about your enthusiasm for  trying things, but your character doesn't seem like he'd mesh well.  He's a little over-the-top.  Maybe you'd be willing to tweak him a bit?

While the name "Abe Lincoln" is perfectly viable, it seems to run contrary to the tone of the game.  Maybe something more "normal"?

Your "skills" are also a bit jarring.  Something less "extreme" would be better, but if you're really set on those, they'll be fine.

    We'll be starting soon.

    Again, welcome.

Re: Interested in a little PBF game?

This better: *(name was picked because growing up I knew 4 Roy Rogers, 3 John Waynes, 2 Casey Jones, and I have no idea how many George Washingtons and none of them resembled in appearance or behavior their name sakes, just a dirty trick mama or papa played on them)

    Abe Lincoln

Newly Homeless, only owns the clothes on his back and $87 in his pocket

    Archaeologist's assistant

    1. Painfully honest
    2. Average intelligence but very detail oriented
    3. Generous to a fault

    4. Experienced camper
    5. Carnival brat, family of geeks, jugglers and knife throwing act
    6. Does medium level crossword puzzles

    7. Stutters

Archeology department at the University closed taking his job from him.  When he got home girl friend had cleaned out his accounts and skipped with all of his possessions.

Just wanted to mention that I won't be around August 1-9. I'll be flying planes. No, not as a passenger. I will actually be flying them. As a co-pilot.

Cool, I may be flying to BC at some point, but I don't have dates yet.
