Dark*Matter

    Dark*Matter

Hello All. I just finished running the introductory Dark*Matter adventure Exit 23 for a group of new players. They survived the adventure by the skin of their collective teeth, without solving the mystery. I'd be interested in running the adventure again with a more experienced group both to give me a benchmark for my DMing (I made a couple of mistakes in the mod that I am wondering if they effected it) and to see how a better group handles it. So, would anyone like to play a Dark*Matter game. To be specific I'm using the old Alternity Fast Play rules, NOT the new d20 ones. We'll be using pre-made characters, 1st come, 1st serve. Experiance with these rules is not expected- The fast play version is desined for new players and I fully admit to not being very experianced in this system myself.

Note that the backstory and motivations for each character can be altered with DM approval, as long as the majority of equipment and stats are functionally identical.

The rules are available from http://tinyurl.com/2l9bb2 . DON'T READ THE ATTACHED ADVENTURE IF YOU WISH TO PLAY: THAT IS THE ONE I WILL BE RUNNING, and really it ruins all the suspense if you know whats going to happen.  I will be focusing more on the investigative aspects than horror aspects. It is set in the modern world as we know it, but a few years ago. 1999 to be specific, so cell phones are large, the internet is slow and dot-coms are good investments.

Oh, and the game will run at http://dndorks.com/forums/797619/ShowThread.aspx

Here is the description from the campaign manager (or it will be if I ever get it working):

The year is 1999. Cell phones are large, the internet is slow and dot-coms are good investments. You are driving along a lonely highway in Idaho when a sudden October Storm forces you to shelter at the Exit 23 Rest Stop.

I am running the introductory Dark*Matter modal Exit 23 using the Alternity Fast Play rules and provided pregen characters.

As a note I'm hoping to focus more on the investigative aspects of the adventure rather than the horror aspects, but that will largely be determined by the players reactions.
