    Sage Advice?

    Sage Advice said:Q: Dear Sage
The Craft skill indicates that you can use the skill in conjunction with the ironwood spell to make wooden items with the strength of steel. Does this override the spell’s normal duration?

A:No. In this case, the skill entry is just pointing out a useful synergy with a particular spell; it’s not suggesting that this changes the rules of the game in any way.

Is it just me, or does that seem pretty stupid?  That's not a "synergy", that's what the spell does, make wood hard (heh).  It's certainly not being used "in conjunction" with anything.  I think this was simply an oversight, a mistake that they aren't living up to.

It's no really that important, I guess, but is it just me?

    Re: Sage Advice?

It's a ridiculous question. Why on earth would a skill affect the duration of the spell? Only metamagic feats or the permanancy spell would make a difference. And I think making ironwood armor would be pointless without a permanancy spell.

    Re: Sage Advice?

Have your read the description of the Craft skill?  Or the Ironwood spell?  They're very misleading.  I suppose the idea is that in order to have a wooden sword with Ironwood cast on it, you need to have a properly crafted wooden sword to cast it on, but that's such a common-sense thing that the fact that they point it out makes it seem more significant than it really is.
