Re: [Capes] Stormrider & Tin Man

Scene: The green-glassed tower of the Irons Building.  Oswald and Dorothy discuss  business.

    Page 1:

"Sir," Oswald Iron's executive assistant, Dorothy, says, "I know you're interested in examining the newly-arrived shipment of pygmalium, but this meeting is important.  Mr. Chambers and the others have been waiting for 20 minutes now."  She gently takes his arm, guiding him to the conference room.

"I'm sure you can handle it, Dorothy" Oswald replies.

Dorothy glares at Oswald.  "Despite the stress, I love this job, but that doesn't mean I can do yours, too!"

    Page 2:

Oswald pulls out a flask and takes a quick swig, not his first by the looks of him.  "I'm just not feeling up to it, Dorothy.  You're going to have to handle it."

"I'm already in the process of handling your schedule, tracking the new product reports, auditing the server status and doing your shopping.  I can't handle any more."

"You're right" Oswald says thoughtfully.  "You should cancel that meeting."

Dorothy's eyes go wide.  "Wha-!  You can't-  This is a very important meeting, sir!  You can't just cancel it out of nowhere!  Besides, it would be rude!"

"That's one of the perks of being the boss," Oswald says with a smirk.  "I can do what I want."

"Augh!  You're impossible!  Listen, if you attend this meeting, I swear I will clear out the rest of your day to play with the pygmalium to your heart's content.  Huh?  Deal?  Pleeeease?"

"Now you're talking!  Deal!  So what's this meeting about again?"

"They want to talk about the new security upgrades" Dorothy replies, guiding him down the hall to the conference room door.

Oswald opens the door on a table full of dour-looking men.  He sighs and puts on a big smile.  "Gentlemen, let's talk about security upgrades."

Re: [Capes] Stormrider & Tin Man

Scene: Outside the green-glassed tower of the Irons Building.  Stormrider spies on Cold-Snap and his henchmen, up to no good.

    Page 1:

Stormrider had been following Cold-Snap and his crew for about an hour.  They'd finally arrived at the Irons building wearing trenchcoats and sunglassses and they'd settled in at phone booths, benches and street corners, trying to blend in.  It had been another 10 minutes of waiting, but now something had their attention.  A heavily armored truck with an armed escort was pulling up to the Irons building, making some sort of important delivery.  Cold-Snap looks around the street, seeing if anybody is paying attention to him.  He turns toward the alley where Stormrider hides, but with lightning reflexes, Stormrider pulls back out of sight before he can be seen.

Cold-Snap and his men quickly spread out and surround the armored truck, and then suddenly the henchmen pull out automatic rifles and unload on the truck's guards!

    Page 2:

With his engine roaring like thunder, Stormrider rides out into the street, squealing to a halt in front of the armed men and blasting one with a bolt of crackling lightning, sending the man flying across the road!  However, Cold-Snap merely glances in his direction, before calmly returning to his assault, leaving his minions to deal with the insignificant nuiscance.  That is, until Stormrider sends another thug flying, this time right into Cold-Snap!

Before Cold-Snap can express his displeasure, the armored truck's tires squeal as the driver tries to get his cargo to safety.  Cold-Snap quickly lays down a sheet of ice under the vehicle, sending it spinning out of control into the side of the building.  Undeterred, the driver shifts gears and backs the truck away from the wall before taking off down the busy street once again, with Cold-Snap closing on him from behind upon an elevated path of ice.  Landing upon the roof, Cold-Snap places his palm upon the it and sends waves of cold through the vehicle, freezing the engine solid!

    Page 3:

"As usual, I'm the one enforcing the law when the cops aren't around", Stormrider thinks to himself as his motorcycle jumps off of a nearby car and into the air.  His fist crackles with energy as he flies toward Cold-Snap, connecting with the side of the villain's face and unleashing a thunderous "BOOM"! that sends Cold-Snap flying.  Cold-Snap quickly creates an ice-sled to catch himself and immediately slides swiftly back toward the truck.

Stormrider sends a bolt of electricity into the truck, and with a jolt, the engine starts up.  "Get this truck out of here, mister!" he yells to the driver, who quickly complies as Stormrider rides off of the roof.  "That's strange," he thinks to himself.  "Iron Enterprises usually has much better security in place than this.  A handful of standard guards and a truck without backup systems?  I don't get it."

But his thoughts are inturrupted as Cold-Snap sends a storm of razor-sharp ice-shards at him, narrowly missing several innocents in the background.  "Ha!  You pathetic fool!" Cold-Snap bellows.  "It doesn't matter if the Pygmalium gets away now.  I'll still have it in the end!"

Stormrider weaves back and forth as he rides toward Cold-Snap, dodging icey death and shouting over his engine, "'Pathetic fool'?  Let me tell you, Frosty, I've had enough of your 'evil monolouge' schtick.  I mean really, how can you take yourself seriously?  I mean, sure, you've got to put on a show, but you could at least try some new material.  Do you really want me to start going on like 'Halt, evildoer!  Your misdeeds shall not go unpunished!'  Maybe I should wear some tights, too, eh?"  The rest of his tirade is lost as his engine spikes and he jumps his motorcycle bodily at Cold-Snap.

Cold-Snap throws up a wall of ice in front of Stormrider, who crashes through it, falling from his bike and ending buried beneath a pile of icey rubble.  "I think it's time I taught you a lesson", he says to Stormrider menacingly.

    Page 4:

With an explosive discharge, Stormrider erupts from the rubble, sending chunks of ice flying and stunning Cold-Snap and his few remaining henchmen with the EMP blast.  "We'll see who gets 'schooled', Cold-Snap!" he shouts, taking the opportunity to regain his motorcycle, and sending another lightning blast at Cold-Snap.

Cold-Snap deflects it with a shield of ice and continues as if Stormrider hadn't spoken.  "Today's lesson:  When lesser men take on their betters, EVERYONE suffers!"  With a wave of his arms, the wind picks up and snow and hail begin to fly everywhere.  People scurry for cover, and Cold-Snap walks amongst them, with his arms outstretched.  Nearby a small child cries as she shivers, "Please, mister, stop it!  I just want to go home!".  Tears freeze on her face, but Cold-Snap just smiles at her coldly as he walks past.  As he turns his back, she picks up a large hailstone and wings it at him, but it bounces harmlessly off of his icy hide.  "This!  This is YOUR doing!" he shouts to Stormrider over the chaos.  "You just had to interfere!"

Cold-Snap clenches his fists, and the storm becomes even stronger.  "You see!  I am like a GOD!"

"Yeah, yeah.  Whatever", Stormrider says as he rides up on Cold-Snap from behind.  "Can we just get this overwith already?  This stopped being interesting... ever," and he thunder-punches Cold-Snap across the street into the side of a building.

Cold-Snap climbs from the hole in the wall, and chuckles as he sees the people on the street, helpless and too cold to move.  "All of you worthless people combined aren't a match for me.  I am a plauge of ice, sent to cleanse the world of your weakness!  Muahahaha!"

    Page 5:

A few brave few people still try to run, but Cold-Snap throws up a wall of ice, blocking their escape.  Panicked, the people change plans and hide inside a nearby building.  Cold-Snap thows off his coat and glasses, revealing his hard, icy exterior.  Hailstones that are denting cars bounce off of him harmlessly as he laughs!  Until he is thrown back into the wall by another electric blast from Stormrider!

"You're no 'god'", Stormrider yells into his dazed face.  "You're just a common crook!"

"I'll make you PAY for this insult!" Cold-Snap hisses.

"Oh, bring it on, ice cube!  I can take you any place, any time, any way.  I've got justice on my side.", Stormrider replies confidently.

"It's not YOU that you have to worry about!" Cold-Snap says vindictively as he suddenly sends a blast of ice shards at the ice wall.  The wall cracks, crumbles, and begins to topple upon the helpless people below!  With lightning reflexes,  Stormrider leaps back upon his bike, trails of lightning following behing him.  His bike flies across the icey street and he leans hard as he passes the frozen innocents, scooping them into his arm not a second before the huge ice blocks crash into the ground where they once where.

The blizzard dies down suddenly, and when Stormrider looks back, Cold-Snap is gone.

Re: [Capes] Stormrider & Tin Man

Scene: Stormrider and Tin Man have followed leads to an archetypical creepy, abandoned amusement park.

    Page 1:

In the darkness behind an old chain-link fence, an engine roars abruptly, and then Stormrider leaps his bike over the fence to land within.  Tin Man lands beside him, his rocket boots blowing dirt into the air.

"Alright then, Tinny" Stormrider says to Tin Man, "the informant said that Cold-Snap was talking to somebody here.  Let's look around and see if we can find more information.  But be careful."

"Ha!" Tin Man laughs (tinnily of course).  "It's an abandoned amusement park.  What's the worst that could happen?"

Meanwhile, on the other side of the park, Dorothy Dean squeezes through a broken section of fence.

"Hmm," she thinks to herself, "this is where the clues lead, but why here?  What kind of weirdo does business in a rusted-out theme park?"

From behind a nearby booth, a dark form watches her with glowing eyes...

Dorothy suddenly looks behind her, but all she sees are stuffed animals on a shelf.  "Those stuffed animals shouldn't still be here", she mutters.  I wonder if that's anything important.  She climbs into the booth and starts pulling out stuffed toys while behind her the dark figure moves closer and closer...

Meanwhile, across the park, Tin Man hears a scream echo through the darkness!  With a flick of his wrists, he powers up his blaster cannons, their charged whine quickly drowned out by his rocket boots.  "Let's split up.  You keep looking for clues.  I can handle this" he says as he flies toward the location of the scream.

Dorothy stares at the dark figure in shocked horror, and flings a stuffed bear at it, to no avail!  Its shadow moves over her... and soon she is lifted off of her feet by her neck.  The thing moves forward, and the dim light reveals some sort of evil clockwork clown!

    Page 2:

Dorothy claws at the clown's arm with one hand while digging into her purse for her cell-phone with the other.  She presses two buttons before the phone slips from her fingers, falling to the ground.

Tin Man swoops over a carousel and through the struts of a delapidated roller-coaster, rocketing toward Dorothy and the clown.  He barrels bodily into the construct, knocking Dorothy free of its grasp and burying it in debris and rubble.  But the thing just won't stay down.  It rises from the crash site, sparking and twitching.  Long claws extend from one hand at it limps toward Dorothy's prone form.

Tin Man rises behind the clown, the glowing eyes and power-ports on his suit the only thing visible, and unleashes a blast of white-hot energy at the clown-bot, but even with a hole through its center, it just keeps coming.  "Tin Man, get me outta here!" Dorothy damands, her eyes never leaving the approaching monstrosity.  As the blades come down, Tin Man leaps in front of the clown-bot, and they spark harmlessly off of his powered armor, but the robot cannot deny its programming, and it bats Tin Man aside with amazing strength!

Stormrider barrels down a roller-coaster track, the rickety timbers splintering and disintegrating under his motorcycle as he ramps off, sending his bike flying at the clown-thing and coming down on it tires first!

A moment later, the three stand together, recovering from their ordeal when three more clown-bots emerge from the darkness!  Each takes on one of the heroes and the one facing Dorothy slaps her to the ground and raises his bladed fingers over her.

"HA HA HA TIN FOOL YOU ARE NO MATCH FOR THE TRUE GENIUS OF DR. ARACHNOS!" the robot cackles in a frightening monotone as it stares at Tin Man with glowing eyes.  While it is distracted, Dorothy quietly crawls behind a nearby colorful barrel.

"Of course!  Dr. Arachnos!" Tin Man says.  "Who else would build such horrible robots.  He must be the one working with Cold-Snap!"

    Page 3:

The clown-bots turn around, looking for Dorothy, but Tin-Man dives into their midsts, swinging and blasting away.  But the robots are too quick, and soon all three are upon him, overwhelming him and bringing him to the ground.  Stormrider leaps into the fray as well, and soon the clown-bots are mere clown-components, twitching their last as their glowing circuits fail.

Meanwhile, Dorothy crawls for safety away from the fight.  Then she hears a sound.  Behind her, obscured by the darkenss, a small child sobs softly.  "Oh dear", she say kindly, "are you lost?  You shouldn't be here.  It's not sa..."  Suddenly, the child looks up, and it's glowing eyes reveal its "sad clown" face and wicked metal claws!

But the clownling is quickly blasted away by Tin Man, who steps up beside Dorothy.  "Don't worry, Ms. Dean" Tin Man says confidently, "I've got these guys figured out.  They won't be a threat anymore."

But no sooner does he say that, than the group is surrounded by 10 more of the clowns.  They flank and manuever and use cover intelligently.  That's when it occurs to Dorothy.  "Look at them!  They're too smart for robots!  Too 'natural'.  And look at that glow.  Do you recognize that glow Tin Man?  It's pygmallium!  That's why ColdSnap was trying to steal it!  So Dr. Arachnos couldmake more of these robots!"  As she makes this realization, the clown-bots close in.  Dorothy clenches her fists and readies herself, determined not to be a liability in the fight, but Stormrider puts a calming hand on her shoulder.

"Don't worry, lady" he says through his helmet, "I've got this."

    Page 4:

"Yeah, like I was actually going to fight them myself", Dorothy replies, rolling her eyes.

"Well, if you want to have a go at it, I can..."

"Gah!  No, I'm sorry.  Tell you what, how about you guys stop the clowns, and I'll keep my smart remarks to myself, huh?"

"DEAL!" the two men shout simultaneously (and a bit too quickly) before charging into the fight.  As Tin Man blasts away with his blaster cannons, Stormrider arcs lightning at the oncoming circus rejects, but it doesn't seem to be enough and they slowly start to surround him.  But Stormrider focuses on blasting a hole through the crowd and ducks through, running down the fairway, drawing the clowns with him.

"Hah!" Stormrider laughs, "Come and get it!"  Meanwhile, concealed behind old circus tents and shadowy game-booths, even more clown-bots converge on Stormrider's position.  But Stormrider anticipates this and explodes in a ball of electrical fury, blowing them back, and frying over half of them outright!

Farther back, Tin-Man finishes blasting the lasts of the clowns near him and turns around to accept Dorothy's praise, only to see her at the edge of a nearby booth, a hand over her mouth and a clown's bladed hand at her throat.

"YOU LOSE, TIN MORON" the clown chatters.  "MAKE A MOVE AND SHE DIES.  DO NOTHING AND SHE DIES.  SOME GENIUS YOU Aaaaaa.....!"

Suddenly, the clown-bot, as well as several of his defeated brothers, as well as various bits of metal detrius hurtle toward Tin Man, clinging to him magnetically with a clang.  There's a breif whine, and then everything blasts away from him, smoking and charred.  Dorothy just looks at him in shock.  Tin Man shrugs.

"Recent upgrade I'm trying out.  It's supposed to stick me to large metal objects, but I guess this works, too."

The rain begins to fall gently on Tin Man and Dorothy as they look around for Stormrider.  Unfortunately, he's well on the other side of the park, and the clown-bots just keep coming.  His electro-punches, falling one after the other, keep getting weaker and weaker, but the things just don't stop.  Finally, exhuasted, Stormrider goes down under a pile of electronic evil.

    ...

And then lightning strikes from the sky, sending robots flying!  Stormrider, reinvigorated, throws punch after lighting-fast punch, until finally all of the clowns are defeated.  Once again spent, he drops to one knee, the steam rising from him as he breathes heavily into his helmet.
