Superhero Game [Wild Talents]
Rumors have been going around for the past year now of people doing amazing, impossible things. And as far as you can tell, it's true! Not because of the occasional news footage, or questionable YouTube clips or the wild stories at the office. You know, because you're one of them. The Gifted. That's what they're calling them... you. Well, it's one of the more charitable things they're calling you. Why is this happening? What does it mean? Some people are excited, fascinated. More are scared. And perhaps rightly so. People hardly ever talk about the guy who works in the library by day and then bench-presses cars at night. It's always the troublemakers. Bank robbers and murderers and such.
Your gift came about only recently. Does anybody know? Perhaps you've had a little practice. Perhaps you can barely make it work. But you can feel it. You can feel that things aren't right. Not in yourself, but in the world. There's something going on and you're square in the middle of it. Will you be ready?

I'm looking for one or two more reliable players for a "street level" supers game set in fictional Seattle. The characters' abilities come from some unknown source, and are bound to each character by some theme (like how spider many has "spider" powers). These are "real" people, insofar as "super powers" aren't their lives. They should have a little depth. They have jobs and friends and families and hobbies and obligations. But they also feel the call to something greater, though they might not know what that is. Think NBC's "Heroes", only a little more over-the-top.
Characters are built on 250 points, and should try to keep the points spent on powers to around 50-60 points. I can make the character for you, based on your descriptions, so there's no great need to own the book, though the PDF is only $5.00.
RichardM is already waiting. Anybody else interested?

Count me in as back-up, but there's a good chance work is about to hit overdrive next year, so I'll keep my offer tentative..

It occurred to me, though Jason knows I'm in the game, I should post here so I get subscriptions and such, plus so people know I'm in the game.
I think its going to rock. :)

Re: Superhero Game [Wild Talents]
Yes i am intrested and I can post daily. For character I thought normal weapons using but has heighted senses and has fast reflexes and speed.
During past month Hans had noticed how his speed, reflexes and senses had slowely increased up to a poin he no more needed eyeglasses. At start he thought that movin in US from Europe had been one reason for these improvements, but now his ailities are near super human and there are rumours of people with other kind of superhuman skills. During his life in Europe he had practised Kung Fu and had military training, he has vocational training in chemistry and has continued working in industrial laboratories even after movin in Seatle.
Okay I have no idea of how these thing are considired in USA but in here they are common.
Equipment and accesory: One 'Lapinleuku' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_knife two smaller knives and a small hand axe. Knife sheet are sewn in his jackets inside while leuku and axe are located in his belt. His jacket is a knee long brown trenchcoat that has hood. He is considering of purchasing an hand gun if the rumours are happening for real and he is one of them.
You okay with this? just say and I'll alter it.
I'm a big mean fighting machine, and twisted humourist.

Re: Superhero Game [Wild Talents]
Heya, London! Things are filling up, but there's still room and time. Glad to have you. Good to see some response from the TWC bunch. You can get the PDF from Indie Press Revolution or RPGNow. We'll get started when we have enough active players. I'm thinking a maximum of four, but if everyone's ready before we get four, then we go on with three. It's 250 point characters with the "Gifted" archetype (as displayed in the character above your post). I'm eager to see what you have in mind. The powers system is flexible, but it might take a bit to get your head around. Feel free to describe what you want and I can put together an initial draft for you.

Re: Superhero Game [Wild Talents]
Okay, here's the idea I had:
Markus was never a strong guy, more gifted with words than his fists. He grew up to be a very young, successful diplomat, organizing treaties and negotiating what others would have called impossible challenges. By the age of only 27, he had made himself a nice career, a family, and all the trappings. On one particularly, ahem, adventurous diplomatic mission with some well entrenched weapons dealers, Markus had the misfortune to be accompanied by a shoot first, think second local militaman. Despite Markus' best efforts, the man opened fire, bringing a hailstorm of bullets back upon their heads. Markus wasn't shot, but several explosion- and shrapnel filled moments left his face a scarred, grotesque visage. His career collapsed soon after; no one would listen to him, or if they did, it was only as an excuse to stare. He retired, or was more forced out, and his family soon abandoned him as well. In his dark, lonely moments, he would stare at the mirror and imagine himself his normal self once more.
One day, it actually happened.
After several excited hours of experimentation, Markus realized he could bend and manipulate light itself, down to a nigh incomprehendable level. He could make things appear, disappear, change their appearance, color...the world was his to recreate. He set out from his shack to do just that.
(Alternately, the power could be mind-affecting, rather than light, if that seems to over the top. I just wanted him to have a few directly offensive abilities as well, like a flashbomb kind of thing, or heat ray. Either way is cool.^^)

Motivations:
Loyalty: (The blind) - 1
Passion: (Manipulating others through deception) - 7
(You can have more Loyalties and Passions if you want, but you have to divide the same 5 points between all of them. And it doesn't have to be divided evenly. You could have 1/7 or 3/5 or whatever.)
Gifted [Unknown, Power Theme]: (0 pts)
Sense Gifted (U) 2hd (4/die; [16] pts)
UE&F: Touch Only -2; Permanent +4
Illusions 3d+1wd (D,U,U) (8/die; 56 pts)
D(Displacer Effect)E&F: Duration +2, If/Then (vs. visually targeted attacks only) -1, Fragile -1 Capacity: Self
U(Holograms)E&F: Duration +2, Radius +2, If/Then (visual illusions only) -1, Fragile -1 Capacity: Range
U(Holo-Disguise)E&F: Duration +2, If/Then (visual disguise only) -1, Fragile -1, Capacity: Self
Effect: Markus can "displace" his visual location, making him harder to hit. He can also create visual illusions up to 20 yards away and in a 10-yard area, opposed by any viewers' Scrutiny rolls. Markus can also disguise his appearance, and usually does so to hide his disfigurement. His illusions require a modicum of concentration and they disperse if he is unconscious or suffers a serious distraction like being injured.
Laser 7d (A) (4/die; 28 pts)
AE&F: Speeding Bullet +2 Capacity: Range
Effect: Markus can send a beam of coherent light from his brow, blasting whatever it hits for Width in Shock and Killing damage. The laser is so fast as to be undodgeable by anyone with a Coordination less than 6.
Dazzle 7d (U+1) (1/die; 7 pts)
UE&F: Daze +1, Radius +2, If/Then (blocked by visual protection) -1, If/Then (only affects sight) -1, Reduced Capacity -1, Obvoius -1 Capacity: Range
Effect: Markus can create a blast of dazzling light out to 256 yards that blinds those in a 10 yard radius for a round.
Movement:
Sprint: 10 yards / round
Jog: 5 yards / round
Running Jump (L/H): 3 yards / 1.5 yard
Standing Jump (L/H): 1 yards / .5 yard
Attacks:
Laser 7d (Width in Shock and Killing damage)
Disadvantages: Hideously disfigured.

Re: Superhero Game [Wild Talents]
That looks awesome. I just spent the last two hours reading through the PDF, so I'm all juiced with a few ideas. ^^
For starters, how about having the languages as German, French, Spanish, and Russian? The kind of popular Euro-mishmash.
For Loyalty, I was thinking to anyone who is blind, since (he believes) they are apart from and above him; they never judge him for his face, and his powers can't affect them at all. He sees them as special.
As a Passion, I was thinking two options: something towards either diffusing a bad situation, as was his life's work, or on a darker bent, deceiving and manipulating people, something he is also readily equipped to do. I was leaning away from the first, only because I wouldn't want Markus' main goal to be having nothing bad ever happen in the game. ^^;
And after looking through the rules, I wonder if it's possible to reduce the Laser and Dazzle to add a wd or two to the illusions. I was originally considering him having a finer control over them, as he is essentially creating them from his mind. As far as points go, I have no idea (it's 2:22am, and my mental faculties are diminishing rapidly), but I don't want to take anything too far out of scope with other players' powers, or the setting.
Beyond that, though, the skills and stats look great; pretty much spot on what I was going for when I wrote Markus out. Great jorb!

Re: Superhero Game [Wild Talents]
Ok, London, I updated the character write-up. My changes are in bold. "Illusions" is pretty powerful, so the only way to get the Wiggle die was to drop the overall dice pool. Also, I decided that disguising yourself is sufficiently different from "outside" illusions to require its own Power Quality. To round everything out, I added "Fragile" to Illusions to represent his control over them (and to bring the cost down).
The blind Loyalty (ha!) is fine, but unlikely to come up much. Maybe you'll want to only put one point into it and put the rest into your Passion? Speaking of your Passion, a passion for manipulating people through deception is pretty interesting and it can probably work without being a problem.
Tuomari, looks good.
Unless somebody chimes in soon, we'll probably start by the week's end. I've got a little prep to do.
